What are Phrasal Verbs?
A verb + particle (preposition/adverb) that creates a new meaning.
Most Common Phrasal Verbs
- give up = stop trying → "Don't give up!"
- look for = search → "I'm looking for my keys."
- turn on/off = activate/deactivate → "Turn off the lights."
- pick up = collect → "I'll pick you up at 7."
- find out = discover → "I found out the truth."
- come back = return → "When will you come back?"
- get up = rise from bed → "I get up at 7am."
- put on = wear → "Put on your coat."
- take off = remove → "Take off your shoes."
- run out of = have no more → "We ran out of milk."
