The Four Conditionals

Zero Conditional — General Truths

If + present, present → "If you heat water to 100°C, it boils."

First Conditional — Possible Future

If + present, will + verb → "If it rains, I will stay home."

Second Conditional — Hypothetical Present

If + past simple, would + verb → "If I won the lottery, I would travel the world."

Third Conditional — Hypothetical Past

If + past perfect, would have + past participle → "If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam."

Mixed Conditionals

Past condition → present result: "If I had accepted that job, I would be living in London now."
