Simple Past Tense

Use: completed actions in the past.

Regular Verbs: add -ed

• work → worked
• play → played
• watch → watched
• study → studied (y → ied)
• stop → stopped (double consonant)

Irregular Verbs (must memorize!)

• go → went
• see → saw
• eat → ate
• drink → drank
• take → took
• make → made
• come → came
• give → gave
• buy → bought
• think → thought

Negative & Questions

did not (didn't) + base verb: "I didn't go." | "Did you see it?"
